West realised that a heart switch was required and duly led heart7. East inserted heart9 and declarer craftily ducked, hoping to induce a reversion to spades. No chance! East played his part brilliantly by switching to a diamond and declarer no longer had the entries to eliminate both spades and diamonds. Had East continued with spades declarer would have ruffed, cashed clubA, crossed to diamondA and ruffed a diamond, cashed heartA and end-played West with clubK.

East-West wrote down plus 800 for a great score.
