The answer is absolutely nothing if the defenders are on the ball, but declarer can give himself a good chance by winning the opening lead and leading heartQ from hand!!! What is West to do? If East held singleton heartA it would be curtains to cover! If he plays low South cashes heartA and switches to clubs, thereby giving himself enough time to develop the suit for diamond discards. On the other hand, if East does have heartK he cannot attack diamonds profitably so South has the time to draw trumps and establish clubs as before.

Not a 100% guarantee but much better than the finesse!
