The winning line is quite easy to spot - afterwards. There is no way this contract can make on a four-one trump break, so it must be right to exit with a low trump when in with club10 - East's refusal to ruff with heartA being the only rational explanation given a three-two trump break. West was completely barmy - and should have exited with a diamond or spade when in with heartQ. Alternatively East should have risen with heartA on the first round and switched his singleton club.

All in all, not one of the great demonstrations of cutting edge bridge.
