I suppose most modern Souths would have made a waiting move/cue-bid with 4heart - but it might be construed as suggesting an alternative game with an unfamiliar partner. At the table South made a rather unrefined leap to 6diamond, only to find that he had opted for a definitely inferior slam. After spadeA has been removed, both 6diamond and 6NT have eleven top tricks, but diamondQ will still need to be found in the suit slam whereas 6NT will be cold if the clubs break 3-3.

How would you play 6diamond on spadeA lead and continuation?
