This is a very difficult hand to bid. Even if you have a two suited overcall available where you can immediately specify your suits, it is not clear how far you should push. I suspect that in 1) you might prefer a Micheals cue-bid (spades and a minor) to be followed by a further, strength showing, cue-bid. In 2) you'd favour a rather lop-sided double to be followed by spades and/or a cue-bid when partner bids clubs. In case 3) (as at the table) West was a novice and thought that 1NT might be appropriate. Well, that was something I hadn't considered. Eventually she became declarer in a modest 3diamond.
