At the other table East opened 3spade, South overcalled 4club and North drove to 6heart. But the diamond lead from the wrong side was fatal, and although declarer could establish the clubs, he was unable to return to dummy to cash them. He was eventually two light, losing three diamond tricks. After this big swing, the huge digital display in the town centre registered a surge in votes for the MRL.
