West North East South
If East is declarer, South has to lead a major suit perforce and so declarer wins. If the lead was a spade, then East cashes five hearts and exits with a minor suit. South is repeatedly end-played to lead into East's trump tenace. Nine tricks. If the original lead is a heart, East draws one round of trumps, cashes the rest of the hearts and exits in a minor suit as before. Again nine tricks. The bridge guru, Richard Pavlicek, was the original constructor of this famous hand. Check out his own website - full of useful stuff.
