Paul featured the hand because of the extremely difficult defence required to beat 4heart. East must cash his two top diamonds and switch to a club. "So what?" you say, " that's not so difficult". Do you want to bet? The club has to be the queen!!!! A small club would go to the ten, king and ace. Declarer unblocks spadeK, draws trumps and eliminates spades throwing a club from hand in the process. He now exits with a club. East is end-played! But if East has led the clubQ there will be no end-play, for West will win the clubK and cash diamondQ.
