I am firmly of the belief that you should definitely override the requirements for a high reverse* on these type of hands and bid both suits. OK, occasionally a wheel comes off, but I would strongly back a long-term profit for the bid-both-suits brigade.

Having heard South bid like this, I strongly encouraged North - a lady who is locally known as the "Iron fist in the iron glove", to take an optimistic view of her hand.

When my wife put down her useful hand, how would you play 6club?

* South's 3club bid is a high reverse - the requirements are usually similar to those for a normal reverse - 16+ points
