This lead must have been from a short suit, so it seemed right to draw some trumps. The two black aces were cashed and a club was ruffed low. The spadeK was next and when West followed with the queen declarer felt reassured about switching back to hearts. After discarding a diamond on heart10, South followed with clubK. Unwilling to sacrifice a potential second trump trick, East refused to ruff and although this was her only mistake it was to prove fatal.

Declarer pitched another diamond and ruffed a low club in hand. By this time East was down to the bare diamondA and she was duly end-played with it. She had to lose her "sure" trump trick anyway, and 4spade + 1 was a complete top for the Israeli girls sitting North-South.
