Our Canadian North duly punted 6NT, but having seen how his partner plays the cards, I'm not surprised. Let's see if you can emulate his feat. You win West's lead of spadeQ in hand and test the clubs - but West has clubJ10xx. If you could duck a heart to East then the timing would be right for a squeeze against West - always assuming that you can land four diamond tricks. The trouble is that East will immediately return a spade and knock out dummy's entry before the squeeze can take effect.

Undeterred, declarer played ace, queen and another diamond, finessing the ten when East played low. West discarded a heart on this and another on diamondK, so South followed with three rounds of hearts. This was the position as declarer led the heart10...
