When I showed the N-S cards to Sally as a single dummy problem on a the back of a bit of scrap paper, she immediately spotted an elegant solution that I had completely overlooked. This was the five card ending.

Instead of crossing to dummy at this stage, Sally pointed out that I should have cashed the last trump and led a club to dummy - strip squeezing West. To discard a spade gives dummy two spade tricks, so West has to ditch a diamond. Leading a diamond fom dummy now end-plays West to lead a spade and allows finesse of the spade10. If West sees what's coming and jettisons the diamondA, East is squeezed on the spadeK for an overtrick.
