So you wouldn't have bid a non-forcing 3heart with that North hand then? No - with three aces and a whopping 16 points - I thought not! However, I knew that my partner was a very conservative bidder, so I had no hesitation in asking for aces when he made a simple limit raise. After partner had shown zero or three aces, East made a fatuous double, and I ought to have punished him heavily for his folly. West led the 2club.
