One of the most important rules of bidding is preparedness - being ready for whatever partner replies, but when asked what I would venture on this hand, I rather sarcastically suggested that "I can think of nothing cleverer than 4NT". I would have got what I deserved:- partner bids 5 showing two key cards and the queen of trumps. Now you have no option but to bid 6, unless you are a real man and are prepared to pass 5!! ..

In 6 the defence quietly take their two aces and you then have to listen to partner give you the benefit of his advice about how the system has exactly the machinery to bid this hand.
