What about the apparently slightly inferior contract of 4spade? HRMP played there on clubK lead, allowing him to discard a diamond. After a losing spade finesse there was no diamond ruff to be had and eventually declarer finessed against spade10 for +620. If West bids a rather clever lead-directing 3diamond and the defenders find their ruff, 4spade still retains its advantage over 4heart for even the most dozy of declarers will know how to play the trump suit.
