Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts
West North East South
Pass 1diamond Dble*
Pass ???

* think of anything else?

At one table the bidding began with Pass, 1diamond, Double, Pass as seen in yesterday's sequence. When three very eminent players were polled on what North should bid next, two of them voted for 2diamond and one for 3club. This latter bid would certainly have been my choice, but then I have both the benefit of hindsight and the pain of seeing 3club lead to the best spot. Also what would you have bid on the South hand when East lobs in a superfluous double of North's 2diamond. Pass? Redouble? 3diamond?

After you've thought about this, I'll ask you another question. How would you advise somebody on the best way to play 4heart on a diamond lead from West?
