Wednesday night saw the first league match of the new year. The team played well against opposition who were not firing on all cylinders, although it would seem highly uncharitable of me to mention that they only had one cylinder in the first place.
As well as being strengthened by the long overdue return of Bonnie Prince Charlie, our unusual play-with-everyone-during-the-season system threw up the stand-back-and-light-the-fuse partnership of the Court Physician playing with Court Jester. Both good players, these guys are at opposite ends of the spectrum. CP, all solid, conventional wisdom and sound technique but CJ all flair and table presence. When we'd scored up, it was plain they'd had a good card. Today's deal is just one of their good boards.
