The commentary in the booklet said that North-South have a game available in either major. East-West could consider a sacrifice in the minors but only the one in diamonds would be profitable because a club contract suffers from an extra loser. I suppose that West might come in at this vulnerabily with Pairs scoring so let's imagine he likes the sound of his own voice and/or has super confidence in his and his partner's declarer play.
