A deliberate double of a five level contact in a competitive auction, when the contract should rightfully be two levels higher, is usually referred to as a stripe-tailed ape double. This is because if the contract is redoubled, the doubling side can turn and run - à la stripe-tailed ape - back to their own suit. Of course, Judi had no stripes as far as this deal was concerned - her double was for business.

She must have had very mixed emotions with her grand slam saving success - USA lost 8 IMPs on the board, when Britain lost merely 800 in the other room instead of a possible 2140.
