~ Loony Bid 4

At another table East opened a Multi showing a weak two in an unspecified major or a strong balanced hand. South doubled to show good opening values, and West's 2NT was described as enquiring about East's hand. North bid a perfectly reasonable 3diamond, East passed and South bid a questionable 3NT. West's double became loony bid 3, and this was followed by three Passes, the last of which wins South my nomination for "Masochist of the Year", and the consolation prize of loony bid 4.

Once again West shone in the defence. E-W plus 1100. Apparently, poor North was castigated by South for not removing to diamonds. Ought he to have known his partner held diamondAQxxx. I think not.
