This may come as a surprise to some people but one of the more "interesting" places in which I have played bridge is in prison. Before you get the idea that I have been banged up for thumping the TD or being in charge of a stolen bidding box, I ought to add that a match had been organised by our University bridge club.

As I remember, we played against a team consisting entirely of friendly inmates, and they were delighted to have the opportunity of playing against us.
