North, a double-dummy expert of International repute, produced ARF's first candidate for the WBE, 4spade. Seems slightly(!) unilateral to me. What is wrong with Double followed by an appropriate number of No Trumps? (Had Willy been North, he would have bid No Trumps at this stage, he wouldn't want partner causing 'diversions').
