It is no coincidence that he selected my erstwhile partner, Willy Crook, as deserving of special praise in the WBE arena. In case you haven't quite received the gist of my message, Willy sees the bidding as a tiresome but necessary vehicle to enable him to be sitting opposite dummy.

Well, in today's hand Willy met his match, but the interlopers paid a heavy price for the privilege. He was East, playing with Rob Sharpe who opened 2diamond, ostensibly 5-9 with six diamonds. Rob's bidding creativity with his 13 cards pales into insignificance with the other three players, for these were true WBE professionals, operating at warp factor 267.
