In every contract, it's a good idea to count your winners. If that doesn't give you a warm feeling, count your losers too, as sometimes they don't add up to thirteen! In this case you have nine top winners: five trumps, three diamonds and heartA, and a tenth can be generated by forcing out the heartKJ. Unfortunately, as you have a spade loser, you can only afford to lose one heart. If you were to play heartA and lead towards dummy, you might find both missing heart honours with East. Alternatively, if you take a double finesse in hearts by leading from dummy, West might be lurking with them both. What to do?
