Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts
In the other room, 18 year old Abbey Walker was playing with Su Burn, and they reached the decidedly inferior contact of 6NT. Receiving the same small spade lead as McGowan, Walker crossed to dummy with a club and took an immediate diamond finesse. When that lost, prospects were very gloomy, for there were no trumps to take care of the spade9. However, when declarer cashed her club winners and the long diamond, West's strong major suit holding evaporated. Sometimes good bidding must be its own reward, for Scotland lost 2 Imps on a board where they deserved to gain 16.
