Declarer should reason that, because of West's double, showing shortage, and East's 1NT, East will hold spadeKJx. KJxx is more unlikely because West would be void and therefore may have bid 4heart. Also, East might have doubled 3spade. Although East's supposed trump holding is vulnerable to finesses, dummy is very short of entries. One entry could be forced by ruffing a club in dummy, but that would still leave a trump, two hearts, a diamond and a club to lose, for surely the King of clubs must be with West. So how can declarer obtain a second entry to dummy? As we can construct most of the hidden East-West cards, we might as well have a look at them all now....
