Despite the presence of a five card major, there is a case for West opening 1NT even though you might feel happier by telling a little fib -
"Sorry partner, I had a small spade in with my clubs". At the table West opened with a straightforward 1spade and his partner bid 3NT to show a "Pudding Raise" (i.e. essentially balanced) to 4spade. What would you bid on those West cards now?
