It appears that there are two possible lines of defence. East is marked with a spade stop on the bidding and so the only way you can take your rightful quota of spade tricks is by ducking the first trick. As long as East cannot run an immediate nine tricks then partner will regain the lead and fire back his second spade, assuming he has one, to produce the happy ending for the defence. What other possibilities are there?
