South wins clubA and rattles off his remaining trumps to squeeze West in the minors. If, however, East returns a diamond in the shown end position then declarer's communication lines with dummy are broken and the squeeze fails.

My eagle-eyed partner Simon Stokes had spotted this defence, but fortunately he was sitting South and duly wrapped up ten tricks when the correct defence was not forthcoming.
