Instead of forcing out spadeK immediately, declarer came off dummy with a heart at trick seven. West won with heartK and continued cleverly with diamondJ on which East threw a club. East, now reduced to a lone club, was able to win the next trump with spadeK, lead a club to his partner's ace and receive a club ruff for one down. A nice defence - compare that with what happened in the other room .
