Surely, if you are confident of sniffing out diamondQ, it must be better to test the trumps and if they behave then cash clubK and lead low towards clubA8, finessing if North has played the nine or ten on the first round. This line gains when South holds clubQ10xx or clubQ9xx. At the tables where South led a diamond against 6heart the declarers had an extra safety play available. A low club from dummy, inserting the seven when North plays low, guards against North holding all five clubs. And the actual layout?
