At the table declarer ducked the first trick and won the second when North continued with the king. With little alternative, West led a spade to dummy and breathed a sigh of relief when the jack held. club10 was pitched on diamondA and North won the trump continuation to exit with a third as South pitched two diamonds. A club was ruffed, both defenders following, and West next led a low heart.
