. . . well, did you play low? The winning defence, unbelievably difficult to find in my opinion, is to cover diamond9 with your ten. Irrespective of your play, partner will not ruff but pitch a heart on this trick (best defence) and another on the third diamond, but if you have not covered diamond9 then the lead will be in dummy. South now ruffs a second club with spade9 and plays a fourth diamond to throw his last club from hand. Now South is in control. He ruffs the club return, draws the last trump and claims.
