All the various bids might have their devotees, but the one that I personally dislike more than the others is Double. My partners always leap in hearts whenever I double on this type of hand, after which any bid you make is likely to be misleading .. and costly. At the first table East bid 1NT, ostensibly 15-17, at the second East bid 1spade, and at the third East passed.
