West led diamond4 against 3diamond doubled and declarer won in hand with the ten. diamondQ was ducked and declarer turned his attention to hearts. East made the fatal mistake of winning and now there was no defence. To beat the contract East must find the unlikely defence of ducking hearts three times! West must discard two spades, ruff the third round of hearts and exit with diamondK. Some chance! South scored +670 and in all it was 16 IMP in the out column for Britain.
