The South who cashed spadeK at trick two ended with only eight tricks. In the other room declarer had played heartK at trick three and East had won to continue diamonds. After winning diamondA, declarer ruffed a diamond and led spade10 covered by East and won in hand with spadeK. On seeing West show out, South simply followed with heart winners. East could choose between ruffing the heart and lead away from clubK, or discarding and being thrown in with a trump. Either way declarer was home to land a very nicely played contract. The total swing was 520, a reward of 11 IMPs for good play.
