. . . it's at this point that you must pitch club5 without a hint of an alternative line of action. Should you over-ruff South, or even appear to be wondering whether to do so, then declarer will succeed with his slam. If you over-ruff then you will be forced to lead away from clubJ, but even if you do not over-ruff then if declarer suspects that you hold spadeQ he will put you on lead by exiting with his last trump. Indeed, knowing that you are a top class defender he might choose to do that anyway, but at least you have tried.
