Poor South. Thinking that East held five diamonds and that he might need to avoid a spade finesse if spadeQ was wrong, declarer finessed in diamonds! West won with the jack to revert to clubs. After ruffing in dummy South led a heart to the queen and another to the king and ace. East led a diamond for West to ruff with heart8 thereby promoting heart10 for the setting trick. One down in a contract where ten tricks might have been made! The defenders were the feared Norwegians, Helgemo and Helness.
