West ended in the "obvious" 2spade redoubled, making an overtrick. Minus 1240 looks a very dubious score to concede but it meant that North-South gained 14 IMPs. Unfortunately I don't have the bidding, but it must have been something like the concocted sequence shown - possibly with East-West playing a Strong Club system, otherwise East's reverse into 2heart is a little under strength. West's fourth-suit-forcing 2spade could be doubled for a lead by North and East might redouble to show a good hand/first round control. Fancying his chances in such a low level contract, West decides to give 2spade a go. A case of a successful operation but the patient dying anyway!

Tomorrow's deal will be another unlikely Armstrong classic.
