Declarer inserted the jack, covered with the queen and West continued with diamondK. Declarer cashed heartA, crossed to clubK and cashed the fourth heart winner to catch West in a three suited strip-squeeze/end-play position. Unable to hold on to an entry to his partner's diamonds, West came down to spadeA and clubJx, whereby declarer simply exited with a spade to force West to lead into declarer's club tenace.

Of course East was badly at fault by allowing spade10 to hold at trick two. He should have overtaken and switched to a diamond. Now declarer cannot tighten the end position by ducking a second spade and West can retain a diamond entry to his partner's winners. This had been the four card end position ..
