Declarer threw a diamond on clubK, as did South, but by now it was too late for declarer and she eventually went one down. However East can still actually get home from the shown position: pitch a spade on clubK, ruff a club, cash spadeK and exit with diamond9. North is end-played and has to give you a finesse in diamonds.

But there's actually no need for all these heroics is there ..?
