South, Jason Hackett, won and led a low spade at trick two. Although West could win there was no defence from here on and South chalked up an impressive +1430. The contract is actually "cold" against any lead, but it's doubtful whether even Jason would have made it if West had led a club. Imagine South ruffs a heart and leads a low spade as before. When West continues clubs declarer must do likewise, retaining spadeQ as an entry if East ruffs in.
