South was in 3NT. The defence started the same but South ducked the first spade and won the second. After ace, king and another club declarer was eventually two off. After that start he probably ought to have finessed heart10 and cashed heartA before playing clubs. East has to stay awake and unblock in clubs to avoid the end-play that would allow declarer an eighth trick.

Had declarer ducked both of East's spades at trick two and three, East would have to have been careful to exit with a heart. A club exit would have given declarer three clubs to go with four hearts (inc a finesse) and two aces.
