As it happened South was a highly competent declarer and saw the obvious play as a potentially dangerous illusion. He played low trick one and won the club return (a diamond is better). heartQ was ducked but declarer cashed spadeA, crossed to spadeK and carefully pitched a club on heartK. West won heartA and eventually a trump trick, but that was all. Declarer could have made eleven tricks as the play went, but he kept his eye on the real goal of ensuring at least +620.

Note that it's not necessarily so easy if South starts with diamondA, clubAK to throw dummy's diamond. When South leads heartQ West wins heartA and continues with a club. Now declarer has to be careful not to run into a trump promotion, although ten tricks should still be made.
