Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts

If East has been telling the truth then the contract is now double-dummy! East is marked with two clubs (he didn't return one at trick four), three spades (jack fell in three), three diamonds and therefore all five missing trumps!

At the table declarer ruffed the diamond with heartA, East under-ruffing, and led a fourth spade from the dummy. After over-ruffing East's heart8, declarer led a trump to the jack and king. East's heart106 sat conveniently under South's heartQ7 and the contract was made for the loss of only one trump trick! Note that South had done nothing extraordinary - just played the cards logically. As for East, no doubt he was disappointed, but he could have defeated the contact by returning a trump at trick two.
