8, declarer led a trump to the jack and king. East's
106 sat conveniently under South's
Q7 and the contract was made for the loss of only one trump trick! Note that South had done nothing extraordinary - just played the cards logically. As for East, no doubt he was disappointed, but he could have defeated the contact by returning a trump at trick two.
