After seeing clubK hold earlier in the deal, declarer placed clubA with West. Knowing that West definitely held heartJ it seemed that the spades must be breaking, and declarer played a confident spade. When East showed out declarer had to concede the last two tricks to West.

East's brilliant duck in the club suit had swapped a trick in the form of clubA for the two major suit jacks of his partner. Had East won North's king with the ace, West would have been inexorably squeezed on the run of North's minor suit winners. 11 IMPs was the deserved reward for East's clever play.
