The club suit is the key. Without reference to the other suits, the best way to play clubs is to take a double finesse, but here this line fits in conveniently with an overall strategy. Why? Because if/when the first finesse loses West is unable to return another club, leaving plenty of other alternatives open before we finally take another club finesse as our last chance.
