Maybe South's smug satisfaction at the early play was the reason why she took her eye off the ball because she found herself in hand after a finesse of clubJ. This was now the time to broach the spades, but already she was regretting having to open them up from the wrong side. With West much more likely to hold spade length - a spade towards the nine in hand would have been a far better line. Nevertheless she continued with a spade to the ten and East won the jack to return heart10. South hopped up with the ace and played spadeK, all following, and spade9. West played spade8, so take it from here.
