South should have extended the safety principle with a small heart from dummy towards hand. East cannot rise without gifting declarer a ninth trick, so South wins with the queen and reverts to spades, again leading a low one. This time the ace pops up and although the defence can establish two clubs to go with the major suit aces, that is all.
