South's choice of pre-empt was 5NT(!) - explained as a single suited pre-empt. North certainly got that one right. Imagine South's dilemma when West eventually became declarer in 7heart. He could pass and pray that partner led a blind diamond or double to give partner a better chance of finding the killing lead. The trouble was that this might alert the opposition to South's void and they would convert to 7NT. And there was always the unilateral sacrifice option...
